Octogamex User Guide Pt. 4— How Do I Buy on the Octogamex Marketplace?
Start by navigating to the marketplace page clicking “Marketplace” in the Octogamex header.
❗️ The same can be done from the footer by the way.
You have a bunch of possibilities on the Octogamext marketplace ranging from choosing a blockchain to selecting the collections of interest. Let’s take a closer look at the filters available:
- Blockchain — Choose which blockchain you want to find an NFT on. Binance Smart Chain is the one to go as of now, with more blockchains, and hence more gaming NFTs, coming in the near future.
- Type — Choose how you want to acquire an NFT: “Sale” — buying directly at a fixed price or making a trade offer (if the “Trade” option is enabled by the seller for the listing), “Auction” — bidding, or “Trade” — offering your own price and/or NFT(s) for the seller’s one (you can make a crypto offer, an NFT offer, or a crypto + NFT combined offer).
- Status — Displays the NFTs’ current status, whether it is “Live”, “Scheduled”, “Completed” or “Canceled.” You can select each option to filter NFTs by status.
- Collection — Search for gaming tokens by game collection. The Octogamex marketplace contains the best selling gaming NFTs from more than 100+ hottest blockchain games.
- Price — Choose which cryptocurrency you want to pay in as well as the price range.
Adjust the filter settings, pick a gaming NFT you’re after then click its card to go to the page where all action happens.
- All NFT listings on Octogamex are of either “Sale”, “Auction”, or “Trade” Type. Let’s take a sneak peak at the peculiarities of each of them from the buyer’s perspective.
- Each NFT listing has the “Properties” section where its defining stats and characteristics are displayed depending on the game, be it an item or a character.
- Each NFT listing has the “Details” section where the key info on the NFT is shown: its contract address, ID, standard and blockchain of origin.
🏷 “Sale” Type Listings:
The “Sale” — type listing page features two chief functional buttons (with 2 being optional, decided on by the seller) and several subsidiary ones.
- The “Buy Now” button does exactly what it states — takes you to the checkout window.
Go for the “Check Out” button, which then will get your MetaMask extension going. Hit “Confirm” to finalize the transaction.
Alright, 1 more NFT secured under the belt!
2. The “Make Offer” button gets the “Trade” mechanics involved if the seller had switched this option on while listing the gaming token — you can offer your own price and/or NFT(s) to the seller for their NFT (a crypto offer, an NFT offer, or a crypto + NFT combined offer).
- Choose the offer currency by clicking its logo or ticker, then enter the price you think is the most appropriate for the NFT or leave this input field blank in case you want to offer NFT(s) only.
- Pick an NFT or several ones you’d like to offer by clicking the “Add NFT” button. You’ll be taken to the NFT Picker. Or leave the button untouched if you just want to offer your own price.
Once in the NFT Picker, select the NFT(s) you need by checking the box in the top right corner of the NFT card (1), then hit “Approve” (2) in case it’s required. You can also sort your NFTs by date they came into your possession and the last time their quantity was updated (for ERC-1155 tokens) (3).
- Note that “Approve” only shows up when you introduce an NFT to the marketplace for the first time, meaning no transaction has ever been made to the NFT using Octogamex. Each NFT must be approved by you since Octogamex doesn’t have access to any of your gaming tokens without your permission.
- Also note that each single transaction (approving, buying, selling, transferring, canceling, etc.) made on any blockchain requires a small amount of its native token (BSC in the case of Octogamex) to be paid as a fee called “gas.” This is your payment to the validators forming blocks and checking their integrity, and this is what fuels blockchains, allowing them to operate.
This will fire up the MetaMask extension window where you need to click “Confirm.”
Then click “Pick NFT.”
3. Click “Make Offer” once all the necessary steps have been completed.
The MetaMask extension window will open up where you need to click “Confirm” once more.
Wait for the “Transaction Is Being Processed” window to disappear.
Good, you made an offer the seller can’t refuse! 🥳
Your offer will be shown in the “Offers” section of the NFT page as long as the listing is live, or the offer is not rejected or passed on by the seller, in which case the listing ends anyways. Other users’ offers are also going to appear here once they’re submitted. Withdraw your offer whenever you like by clicking the “Cancel” button.
3. The “Go to NFT Chat” button takes you to the “Chat” section of the NFT page where you can drop the seller a line regarding the NFT and have a discussion with them as well as other Octogamex users. To do so, you need to enter your message (1), pick a nickname, or go with standard “Anonymous” if you choose to remain private (2), and enter your link (not necessary) (3), then press the send button (4).
❗️ Once you’ve done the above mentioned steps, you have a couple of possibilities regarding the messages in the chat.
- Block offensive users, hover your cursor over (or tap on mobile & tablet devices) the sign to see the “Block User” button. Clicking is at your discretion.
2. Edit or delete your message any time.
3. Log out of the chat whenever you want, hover your cursor over the white ellipsis sign to see the “Log Out” button.
4. Subscribe to upgrades on the page by clicking the bell button, then the “Subscribe to This Page” button. Notification updates are next below the button.
5. Write additional messages, chat with the seller and other people, respond to their messages, send by clicking the button on the right.
4. Allows you to favorite gaming tokens. Visit the “Favorites” tab on the Profile page to see and manage them.
5. You can share the NFT with people on social media. Click the button, choose the media and follow through the required steps.
💹 “Auction” Type Listings:
The “Auction” — type listing page features one main functional button and several supplementary ones.
- Click “Bid” to put in the price you’d like to purchase the gaming token for.
- Note that your bid is final and can’t be taken back or lowered. Once the auction ends, if your bid is the last, and nobody else outbid you, you will be considered the winner and given access to the won NFT lot. Your bid funds will be transferred to the seller.
- Enter the amount into the input field.
- Or click one of the suggested options: either a minimum possible bid higher than the last one or one of its multipliers.
- Then go right ahead, hitting “Place Bid.” This will open your MetaMask extension up where you need to click “Confirm.”
Wait for the “Transaction Is Being Processed” window to disappear.
Now sit tight and wait for the end of the auction, or a higher bidder, who is known to pop in every now and then, to outbid them on the way to the desired NFT. It’s an auction, after all.
- The “Bid History” section is the bid register where all the bids placed on the NFT lot are shown. The top bidder is always first on the list and has the “bid the highest” designation to its address’s right. All runner-up bidders have just “bid”.
- Be ready to see the “Winner Alert” message in case your bid ends up the winning one. Click “Claim NFT” to open the victor’s storage indeed.
Your MetaMask extension will then ask you to confirm the transaction. Go for “Confirm.”
